Fastly Pricing: What 1 TB of CDN Traffic Actually Costs
Fastly's per-GB CDN rates by region, the 100 GB free allowance, the arithmetic for 1 TB, and why no monthly minimum is published, captured 2026-10-25.
1 TB of Fastly traffic from Europe or North America costs $110.88, because the first 100 GB is free and the remaining 924 GB bill at $0.12 per GB. Traffic from Africa costs $258.72 for the same terabyte.
- Fastly charges $0.12 per GB for Full Site Delivery bandwidth in Europe and North America after the first 100 GB free (checked 2026-10-25).
- 1 TB of European or North American bandwidth costs $110.88: 924 GB at $0.12 after the free allowance (calculated 2026-10-25).
- The same terabyte costs $175.56 from Asia, Australia or South America and $258.72 from Africa, India or South Korea (calculated 2026-10-25).
- Fastly publishes no monthly minimum for CDN bandwidth and describes the product as pay-as-you-go; the $500 per month figure on the same page belongs to an edge-compute package (checked 2026-10-25).
- Requests are free to 1 million a month and then $0.01 per 10,000, so 10 million requests add $9.00 (calculated 2026-10-25).
- Bandwidth rates drop past 10 TB per region: $0.08 per GB in Europe and North America, $0.14 in Asia and $0.24 in Africa (checked 2026-10-25).

On this page
Fastly prices CDN bandwidth per GB, per region, with the first 100 GB free every month. In Europe and North America the rate is $0.12 per GB, which makes 1 TB cost $110.88 after the free allowance (calculated 2026-10-25). That is roughly ten times what the cheapest CDN charges for the same byte count, so the useful question is not the rate but what the rate includes and which assumptions the page does not state. This page works the arithmetic region by region and records what Fastly does not publish.
What 1 TB costs by region
| Region | Rate per GB (100 GB–10 TB) | Free allowance | Cost for 1 TB |
|---|---|---|---|
| Europe | $0.12 | 100 GB | $110.88 |
| North America | $0.12 | 100 GB | $110.88 |
| Asia | $0.19 | 100 GB | $175.56 |
| Australia | $0.19 | 100 GB | $175.56 |
| South America | $0.19 | 100 GB | $175.56 |
| Mexico | $0.16 | 100 GB | $147.84 |
| India | $0.28 | 100 GB | $258.72 |
| Africa | $0.28 | 100 GB | $258.72 |
| South Korea | $0.28 | 100 GB | $258.72 |
What the published rate actually means
The free allowance is per region per month, not per account, so a site serving 90 GB in Europe and 90 GB in Asia pays nothing for either. The $110.88 figure assumes all 1,024 GB land in one region and the 100 GB credit is consumed once: 924 GB at $0.12.
The rate steps down past 10 TB per region. Europe and North America fall to $0.08 per GB, Asia, Australia, Saudi Arabia and South America to $0.14, Mexico to $0.12 and Africa, India and South Korea to $0.24. Because the tiers are regional, a 15 TB month split evenly across Europe and Asia is billed at the first tier in both regions rather than the second in either.
Requests are a separate meter: 1 million free then $0.01 per 10,000. At 10 million requests the request charge is $9.00, which is noise against bandwidth for video and material for a site serving small icons, where 1 TB can mean tens of millions of requests.
How we measured it
We loaded the pricing page and the CDN product page on 2026-10-25 and read the Full Site Delivery bandwidth table directly, including the region labels and both volume tiers. The terabyte is read as 1,024 GB and the 100 GB free allowance subtracted once per region. No traffic was served and no account was opened.
One thing we looked for and did not find: a monthly minimum. The pricing page sells "pay-as-you-go, usage-based pricing" and publishes no floor for CDN bandwidth; the only flat monthly figure on it is a $500 per month edge-compute package. Anything quoted as a Fastly minimum elsewhere is not on the page a buyer is linked to.
What changes in practice
For a small site, Fastly's own free tier is the whole answer: 100 GB of bandwidth and 1 million requests a month cost nothing, which covers a blog with images comfortably and a small SaaS API easily. The first invoice arrives when traffic crosses either line, and it arrives at a rate that assumes enterprise traffic patterns.
The regional table is where budgets break. A product with a global audience can pay two to three times the European rate for the same number of bytes, and the discount for volume only applies inside a region. A 1 TB month in Africa costs $258.72 — more than twice the European price — so a launch that goes viral in the wrong continent can cost more than the servers.
TLS and support are priced separately and are easy to miss. Managed TLS is free for five domains then $20 per domain, a commercial-CA certificate is $275 per domain, and mutual TLS is $500 flat beyond two. Support plans are not on the bandwidth table at all.
Bottom line
At $110.88 per European or North American terabyte after the 100 GB free allowance, Fastly is worth its price only if the 100 GB free tier covers you or if the platform's other services are already in use. Below 100 GB a month the bill is $0; between 100 GB and 10 TB, budget $0.12 per GB in Europe and North America and up to $0.28 per GB in Africa, India or South Korea.
Frequently asked questions
What does 1 TB of CDN traffic cost on Fastly?
$110.88 from Europe or North America, because the first 100 GB is free and the remaining 924 GB bill at $0.12 per GB. Traffic from Africa costs $258.72 for the same terabyte.
Does Fastly have a monthly minimum for CDN?
No monthly minimum is published for Full Site Delivery — the pricing page describes pay-as-you-go, usage-based billing. The $500 per month figure shown there is the Starter edge-compute package, not a CDN floor.
When do Fastly's bandwidth rates drop?
Past 10 TB per region per month: Europe and North America fall from $0.12 to $0.08 per GB, Asia from $0.19 to $0.14 and Africa from $0.28 to $0.24. The discount applies per region, not to the blended total.
Do requests add much to the bill?
The first million requests a month are free, then $0.01 per 10,000. At 10 million requests that is $9.00, which is small beside $110.88 of bandwidth — unless the objects are tiny.
